About Us -President's Message

Anne Izzillo
FWA President
February 1, 2012

Dear Fellow FWA Members and Sponsors,

After 29 years as the Executive Director of the Financial Women's Association, Nancy Sellar has announced her intention to retire at the end of the fiscal year on June 30, 2012. Nancy has been an invaluable asset in the evolution of the organization. Under her dedicated leadership, the FWA has become the premier resource in the tri-state area for financial women to build skills, broaden horizons, and grow professionally and personally. We will miss her talents and wish her the very best.

Highlights of FWA accomplishments during Nancy's tenure include:

  • Initiating the annual international conference through which FWA member delegates obtain first-hand exposure to a country's commercial, cultural, and political leaders;
  • Establishing the volunteer mentoring programs with Murry Bergtraum High School for Business Careers and Baruch College of the City University of New York, and scholarship funds to benefit those students;
  • Forming the FWA President's Circle, the organization's official corporate sponsorship program; and
  • Fostering compelling dialogue among thousands of FWA members, business leaders, and the community through over 100 programs on contemporary issues annually.

We applaud Nancy's ongoing commitment to these programs, and her untiring dedication to ensuring their continuation and success.

To ensure a smooth transition, the Board has passed a resolution to hire a consulting firm to assist us with our reorganization plans. We will also undertake a search for an experienced Executive Director to replace Nancy over the next several months.

As President, I personally value Nancy's input, suggestions, advice and guidance, and I look forward to that same guidance and advice as we move forward. The Board will take this opportunity to construct a plan to ensure a vibrant future for the FWA. Nancy has agreed to take on an advisory role in the reorganization plans, so that we can build on her in-depth knowledge of the organization and its stakeholders. Through my President's messages I will periodically supply updates of the progress of our plans.

Our program committee co-chairs and their members are diligently working on behalf of the FWA to continue to provide the type of programming that is our hallmark. Be sure to check the events calendar for upcoming programs.

Everyone involved in the FWA sincerely appreciates Nancy's continued dedication and hard work on behalf of the FWA, and we thank her for her past efforts and ongoing support.

Sincerely,

Anne Izzillo
FWA President, 2011-2012
